David Marskell has aspired to engage, empower youth and give back to the community through his talent for bringing people together. He currently accomplishes this as the Chief Executive Officer of THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener, which he joined in twelve years ago. David has brought world class exhibitions to Kitchener Waterloo.
David was the Director of Marketing at Exhibition Place responsible for major programming and marketing of the Canadian National Exhibition. While at Ontario Place he spearheaded the successful Chinese Lantern Festival. David continues to dream big, encourage creativity and take risks in both his leadership role at THEMUSEUM.
David's volunteer experience includes three years as Board Chair for GRFF (Grand River Film Festival), member of the inaugural Waterloo Regional Tourism Marketing Corporation Board, member of the Vision Task Force (Prosperity Council Waterloo Region), and Co-Chair, along with his daughter, of the Kids Help Phone Golf Tournament.
In addition to his CEO duties, David has taught, part time at Conestoga College, was the inaugural Chair of the Tom Thomson Art Foundation and served three years on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Museums Association. Believing wholeheartedly in this community, in 2018, David, with the support of his family, was able to shepherd $1M from the sale of a Church his parents began in 1939, to THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener.
